Researcher Search

Note: Resarcher Search is only available in the Web of Science Core Collection.

 

Use Researcher Search to search for author records and profiles of researchers across the Web of Science Core Collection. Researcher Search helps identify articles likely authored by the same person and view profiles for those authors that contain metrics and other scholarly activity (for example, peer review).

 

Searching for an Author Record

Any author with a paper indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection has an author record.

You can search for an author by name or their author identifierClosed An author's Web of Science ResearcherID or ORCID ID.. (Web of Science ResearcherID or ORCID).

To find an author by name, enter both a last name and first name or initial(s). You can include a hyphen, a space, or an apostrophe in the Last name field. For example:.

  • Wilson
  • O'Grady
  • Ruiz-Gomez
  • De La Rosa
  • Van der Waals

Researcher Search Results

  • The search results page lists author records that match your search.
  • If there is only one author record associated with the author you’re searching, the author record automatically opens and bypasses the search results page.
  • - Author records that have been claimed by the author and are a Web of Science Researcher Profile are identified in the search results by a green tick.

  • Refine your search results by author name, organization, and subject category to retrieve more relevant results.
  • You can start a new author search directly from the search results page. Click the search box located below the number of search results to open a pop-up window.

Author Records

For author records, the search results box displays:

  • The most recent published name of that author

  • The most recent published affiliation of that author

  • The year span of the published articles within that record

  • The number of documents contained within that record

Web of Science Researcher Profiles

For Web of Science Researcher Profiles, the search results box displays:

  • The preferred name provided by the profile owner

  • The most recent published name of that author (in brackets, if different from the preferred name)

  • A green tick identifying the record is a profile.

  • The most recent published affiliation of that author

  • The year span of the published articles within that record

  • The number of documents contained within that profile

View as a Combined Record

There may be multiple author records for one author. You can select multiple author records and click View as Combined Record to view all documents from an author in one record.
